Karen Eileen Mumford was born at Cleveland Metropolitan Hospital on October 6, 1947 to the late James Louis Hamilton and Aleeta Jones Hamilton. She was the younger sister of the late Patricia Ann Hamilton Gilbert and the twin sister of Sharon Eleanor Hamilton House. Karen matriculated through the Cleveland Public school system graduating in 1966. She enrolled at Cuyahoga Community College as a part-time student, while working full time in the kindergarten program at Wade Park Elementary school.
After receving an associate degree in sociology at Community College. Karen continued her educational pursuits at Ohio University in Athen, Ohio.
In 1973, she married the love of her life, Forney L. Mumford Jr.. From this union were born three children, Kimberly Rene Mumford (McCallum), Daymon James Mumford, and Nathan Aaron Mumford.
Karen began her professional career with the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Energy Company where she spent the better part of the twenty five years molding and shaping young minds in the business world.
On July 8, 2005 Karen Eileen Mumford passed away from her bout with breast cancer. Throughout her 57 years of life on this earth, Karen touched many lives and left an impression on those who came in contact with her. From an early age she was always helping someone achieve. She left a legacy amongst family, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances. She often said "If I can help somebody as I pass this way, then my living shall not be in vain."
